How it works
With a will, you decide how your inheritance should be distributed. You can provide for your loved ones while also allowing part of your estate to support Land of Hope’s work for vulnerable children in Nigeria.
You can choose to include Land of Hope in your will with, for example:
- a specific amount
- a percentage of your estate
- the remaining part of your estate, once your loved ones have been provided for
- your entire estate, if you have no heirs or if this is your wish
You should prepare your will together with a lawyer. But you are very welcome to inform us about your wish.
What the money is used for
The amount you leave to us in your will goes directly to our work with children in Nigeria. Your legacy can help rescue more children who have been accused of witchcraft. You can help provide them with care, food, medicine, education and a safe life at the Land of Hope children’s centre. But most importantly, you can give them the chance to grow up as what they are: children with rights and dreams for the future.
You do not need to leave a large fortune to make a big difference.
Land of Hope is approved of the Danish Tax Assessment Act and is listed by the Danish Tax Agency as an approved organisation. We are therefore entitled to receive tax-deductible donations.

A will is not only about what we leave behind. It is also about what we pass on. Land of Hope does not only work to save children’s lives here and now. We also work long-term with education and awareness in local communities, so superstition is not allowed to destroy more children’s lives. When you include Land of Hope in your will, you are not just giving money. Your legacy can become hope – and your will can become the beginning of a child’s new life.
Questions
How do I leave a gift to Land of Hope in my will?
A lawyer can help you ensure that your will is legally correct and reflects your wishes. Without a will, your estate will be distributed according to inheritance law, which means that your personal wishes may not necessarily be followed. You do not have to tell us that you have included Land of Hope in your will. But if you would like to, we would be very grateful to hear from you, so we can say thank you.
Can I leave a gift to Land of Hope even if I have family?
Yes. You can easily include both your loved ones and Land of Hope in your will. Many people choose to leave a smaller part of their estate to a cause close to their heart, while the rest goes to their family.
How large does the amount have to be?
Every amount makes a difference. You can leave a fixed amount or a percentage of your estate. The most important thing is not the size of the gift, but the wish to pass on hope to vulnerable children who need it.
What will my legacy be used for?
Your legacy will support Land of Hope’s work for vulnerable children in Nigeria. This may include rescue work, food, medicine, hospital treatment, education, care and the work to fight the superstition that leads to witchcraft accusations against children. Land of Hope is exempt from inheritance tax on legacies. This means that your gift in your will goes directly and in full to our work with the children.
